How to Use Google Hangout Voice/Video on AT&T cellular network

If you are on AT&T and use Google Hangout, then there is some bad news for you. AT&T has blocked the use of Google Hangout Voice and video feature on its network. It means that you can’t access Hangout Voice/video from cellular 3G/4G LTE network, however you can still do text chat. If you need Voice/video then you need to be search for WiFi.

While this is very annoying to many AT&T users, there is still a work around that enables you to access Hangout voice and video even on AT&T cellular network.

Pre-requisite for this procedure is to you phone Rooted.

Before you get started, please root your Android phone.

1. Download SQLight editor from here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.speedsoftware.sqleditor
2. Download Root Explorer from here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.speedsoftware.rootexplorer
3. Now use Root Explorer to browse to /data/data/com.google.android.gsf/databases/gservices.db and click on it
4. Click Main.
5. Search gtalk_vc_wifi_only. Select it and and hold.
6. Press Edit Record and change the Value to false from true.
7. Reboot the device.

That’s it! You can now access Hangout Voice and video even on cellular network while on AT&T network.

Please note that using Video calling on 3G/4G can consume huge amount of data. So have a watch on your Data limit.
