Nokia X Android Preview, Price, Spec, Features

In the past, many might have ponder the point as if why the Finnish Firm did not play up with android, to which, Nokia answered “X”.  Nicked with name Normandy and modeled as Nokia X. It has been clubbed with X, X+ and XL with X being Primitive in the Family.  


Nokia X is a mid-tier Smart Phone with heavily modified (read forked) Open Sourced version of Android Jelly Bean Operating System and referred as X platform powered by Microsoft and Nokia. Rolled first in India on 24th Feb 2014, will be available in phased manner across Asia-Pacific, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa. Nokia X might now so be available in USA, Japan, South Korea and Canada (Thanks to the highly competitive market).


Price and Package: The low-end, mid market handset is priced at Rs 8100, $ 140, €101 and is the cheapest in the line of Android Phones. Online available @ ebay.com, flipkart.com, amazon.com, shopping.rediff.com, junglee.com, snapdeal.com. flipkart.com bids most economical of the current lot at Rs 8099/- including taxes with free home delivery. Package Is neat and clean, Contains include handset, battery, Charger, owner’s manual and hands free. Available in variety of colors,  Red, Yellow, Green, White, Black and Blue. Connectivity cable remains astray. 

Specification : Display (LCD, WVGA (800x480)), Processor (1GHz Dual-core Snapdragon S4), Storage (4GB + MicroSD (32GB)), Connectivity (Dual SIM, Bluetooth 3.0+HS, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Micro USB) and Software  (Nokia X 1.0) remains identical to the entire X Family (X, X+,XL). Dimensions, RAM, Camera and Battery differs marginally. Technical details remains dry, however the rug body shell can withstand fall on tough surface.

Software and  Interface: Looks vaguely reminiscent of Windows Phone. Metro Inspired User Interface access Nokia’s own store, however there is no access to Google Play , since OS remains baseline. Devices comes with free access to Here Maps, MixRadio, Microsoft OneDrive and Outlook preinstalled. Bing being default search engine.  Swiping across reveals fastlane feature, that enables notification and recent activity combination with an option to pull down calendar appointments. 

Final Words : The idea is about combing the flexibility of Android with Services of Microsoft. Microsoft unveiled hardware improvement for Windows 8.1 specifically designed for low cost devices means better is yet to follow. X Series is an experimental project with hallmark of brand Nokia. Android undoubtedly is the winner because of ecosystem and variety of low cost.  It is smart job by Nokia because it believes global eyes low cost and consistency. It gives Nokia more ammunition to capture future smart phone market
