How to install ClockWorkMod(CWM) on S5830 Samsung Galaxy Ace with Video guide

ClockWorkMod is a must have tool for any geek with an android device. CWM is a recovery tool for android phone which gives you options to install, recover android firmwares. Lets discuss how to install CWM ClockWorkMod on Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830.


Prerequisites
recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.6-galaxyace-fix.zip ! Download link

How to install CWN ClockworkMod on Galaxy Ace S5830
  • Copy recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.6-galaxyace-fix.zip on SDcard
  • Completely switch off the phone
  • Reboot by pressing Home+Power button and then release only the power button
  • Now goto apply update from sdcard >> then select the recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.6-galaxyace-fix.zip
  • That`s it... After the process completed reboot your phone.

Now you will have ClockWorkMod(CWM) on your phone. Next time when you Reboot by pressing Home+Power button your phone will go to ClockWorkMod(CWM).

    1. When turning on phone hold the home button along with the power button..Then just release the power button only..Then u will get this menu..

Android is locked down to what you get with the phone every android phone comes with a recovery mode incase it messes up this makes it easier for phone fixers to fix phones eg if you get a boot loop. Clockwork is a custom recovery with more options like the ability to flash custom roms cm7 is one of many if you look on XDA there are loads for every android phone going you can even get android 4.0 ICS and yes you can get rid of it by using kies to reflash a stock rom but you would never need to do this.

    2. Try turning off your phone and then rebooting it by pressing home+power+volume up buttons. I´ve noticed that in some forums they start the recovery mode that way. I believe that is because the galaxy ace s5830 and 5830i are diferent...

    1. hi rudy. i got the same problem as you. how u fix it? i try using odin for my samsung galaxy ace but i cant get it into download mode. I pressed volume down+home button+power on, but it just stuck on the loading samsung logo. how u fix it?

  28. Found the solution. If any one of you try to install Clockworkmod and the mobile gets stuck. Install IMS and the mobile works fine. Awesome!!

    2. Happened to me as well, go save it through ODIN and reinstall Android from there. Once you have Gingerbread on, come back and flash CWM correctly.

    1. You chose the option "update from sdcard" which searches for a file named update.zip on the root of your sd card. You can go with the install from zip option or rename the CWM file to update.zip.

  40. I have had the two cases, flashed CWM succesfully and unsuccesfully. The main difference is the version of Android you are using, when i used Froyo (2.2.1) it did not boot and i had to save my semi-bricked phone through ODIN (Vol Down + Home + Power for download mode on boot) but when i used it on Gingerbread (2.3.4) it worked perfectly.

    and I keep getting an error saying /tmp/package.zip status 7 or something like that. I tried renaming it to update.zip and I have no luck... I want to install CWM so I can install The Myth Advance.

  48. for all those getting blank screen u need clockwork-5.0.2.6-galaxyace.zip and cm9_galaxyics-ace-ota-eng.maju-alpha3.zip

    transfer it to sd card using any card reader
    boot into recovery
    wipe data / factory reset
    first install clockwork-5.0.2.6-galaxyace.zip then reboot into recovery again install cm9_galaxyics-ace-ota-eng.maju-alpha3.zip and chk if it wrks
    if it does then reboot into recovery again
    wipe data / factory reset
    and this time install the latest ics4 rom
    latest rom : http://galaxyics.com/download/ace

  56. Do u even know what CWM 5.0.2.6 is???
    you flashed CWM 4.0.0.8 in the video and you are misguiding all these people saying you flashed CWM5!!!!!

    And thats not even the proper way to flash a rom, you will get a 100 bugs on the rom without wiping anything!!

  77. Good vid but sadly not all galaxy ace are covered by this. the video is misleading in that sense. For example my bootloader on my galaxy ace is android system recovery by samsung recovery utils - BML

    as such there is no option to update from SD card. Will have to find another way.
