How to root Official ICS I9100XXLPQ Android 4.0

We hope that you are enjoying the latest released Official Ice cream Sandwich I9100XXLPQ firmware from Samsung. So here come the first demand after that, yes rooting. Many of our readers have requested a tutorial on rooting I9100XXLPQ official ICS firmware. Well we are little late in publishing the same because of the reason that initial release of CF Root was not properly working on ICS. But now thanks to Chainfire, a new working version of CF ROOT has been released for I9100XXLPQ. Read on for details.
**Rooting your device will void the warranty**
Prerequisite(Available on Sammobile)
  • Samsung USB Drivers for I9100
  • ODIN for flashing
  • Download Chainfire`s CF root for I9100XXLPQ XDA Forum link & extract to get
CF-Root-SGS2_XX_XEO_LPQ-PROPER-v5.4-CWM5.zip file. After extracting you will see CF-Root-SGS2_XX_XEO_LPQ-PROPER-v5.4-CWM5.tar.

    Rooting your phone
    • Completely turn off your Galaxy S2 (Wait till the vibration comes)
    • Switch phone on in download mode by pressing Vol Down button + Home screen + Power on
    • Now run the odin software and and connect your phone
    • Put CF-Root-SGS2_XX_XEO_LPQ-PROPER-v5.4-CWM5.tar file in PDA tab as shown in pic and keep only Auto Reboot & F.Reset time checked
    • Click on start and phone will restart when it is completed
Thats it your phone is rooted now... Enjoy

      1. Paul

Pull the battery off and reinsert then
Boot in recovery mode by vol up +home+powet and do a factory reset

        Then it will be fine.

If not flash again via odin

      4. Ok sorry, my fault. Its ok right now, im not rooting, im upgrading my SGS2 to OFFICIAL ICS. So, can you tell me what is the difference of the two ICS from the philippines, there are two version XTC and GLB. XTC didn't work for me, keeps restarting, GLB worked, but my kies said, it doesn't support upgrading. Is this means that my firmware is not official. I downloaded the firmware via www.sammobile.com

      1. do a hard reset and your phone should be fine..

you can go back to Gingerbread FW using ODIN anytime.

Root is something giving apps access to your phone system files.

    6. Hi Shalini Bansal,
I'm going to update my vodafone 2.3.3 in Ireland to the latest version of ICS which was released this week for it.I think it's I9100BULPC. If I upgrade to this vodafone branded one can I use the root above or do the roms have to match?
      Cheers
      Damien

      1. for rooting you can either try one click root tool (search on Dialandroid) or you need to download root kernel from XDA for that particular firmware.
